The influence of a magnetic field on the development of gravitational instability of the boundary between two compressible ideally conducting liquids is examined. A characteristic equation is obtained, whereby the perturbation amplitude increase in the nonstationary problem can be found as a function of the physical parameters of the medium. The magnetic field is shown to be a stabilizing influence, i.e., the disturbances increase much more slowly than in the absence of magnetic field. The results are compared with those of Chandrasekhar [1] and Talwar [2].
