Computer modelling was used to study the behavior of dislocations near slip bands composed of edge or screw dislocations. Distributions are obtained for the start ing stresses of the dislocations, the path lengths, and the transverse-slip dis tances as functions of the level of the external stress, the distance from the slip band, and the orientation of the crystal. The modelling data are compared with certain experimental results.
