The form of the ultrasonic waves of finite amplitude in a bounded beam is investigated experimentally. Asymmetric distortion of the compression and rarefaction phases due to diffractional divergence of the wave is observed. The variation in degree of asymmetry of the profile with distance is found to be nonmonotonic. The wave profiles recorded practically coincide with those obtained earlier by numerical calculation.
