Annotation
A systematic theory of a fluid with spin is developed on the basis of a first-order variational principle. The proposed theory is appropriate not only for Einstein-Cartan theory but also in a wider class of gage theories in which the gravitational Lagrangian includes terms that are quadratic in the torsion and curvature.
