The gas ionization parameter $(N_e) / (N_e+n_1)$ was calculated for various gas densities and temperatures by two probabilistic methods for solving steady-state equations. The results produced by these methods were compared with those obtained by other authors. It is shown that the ionization parameter of a gas depends rather strongly on its optical thickness, density and temperature.
