Effects of emitter parameters on the resolving power in a scanning tunneling microscope
Effects of emitter parameters on the resolving power in a scanning tunneling microscope
S.D. Alekperov, S.I. Vasil'ev, S.P. Molchanov
Conditions are considered under which the probe-emitter parameters provide the maximum resolution in a scanning tunneling microscope; a method is described for making emitters with preset features.

The magnetocaloric effect and magnetic phase transitions in dysprosium
S.A. Nikitin, A.M. Tishin, S.E. Bykhover, S.V. Red'ko
Measurements have been made on the magnetocaloric effect in a dysprosium single crystal up to 60 kOe. Above 20 kOe, there are two peaks on the temperature-dependence curve. The entropy change in the phase transition has been determined as a function of the field.

Special theory of relativity and centrifuge experiments
A.A. Logunov, Yu.V. Chugreev
A number of possible experiments on a rotating disk is discussed with a view to verifying the special theory of relativity. Concepts discussed include observers proper time, physically measurable distances, frequencies, and so on.
Show AbstractCosmology and Einstein-Cartan theories. II. Some exact solutions
Cosmology and Einstein-Cartan theories. II. Some exact solutions
V.A. Korotkii, Yu.N. Obukhov
A class of cosmologlcal models with a spinning fluid is investigated. An anisotropic generalization of the de Sitter model with torsion, a generalization of the anisotropic model with cosmological constant, and a stationary model with rotation without loss of causality are obtained.
Show AbstractUniqueness of the relativistic center of a set of events
Uniqueness of the relativistic center of a set of events
N.P. Klepikov
It is shown that the generalized Osborn relation together with the correct commutation of the collective time with momentum, energy, and collective coordinate of the system ensure that the previously found expressions for the coordinates of the center of a set of events are unique.
Show AbstractEffect of a constant electromagnetic field on the photoproduction of $W^+e^-$ pairs by relativistic neutrinos
Effect of a constant electromagnetic field on the photoproduction of $W^+e^-$ pairs by relativistic neutrinos
V.Ch. Zhukovskii, A.V. Kurilin
The standard Weinberg-Salam-Glashow model is used to calculate the probability of the decay of the neutrino into an electron and the W-boson in a plane-wave field (crossed field + wave). An analysis of a partial expansion of the total decay probability has led to results that describe the photoproduction of $W^+e^-$ pairs by relativistic neutrinos in a crossed field.

Additional neutral vector boson in 7-dimensional theory of gravielectroweak interactions
V.R. Gavrilov
An analysis is given of the effect due to the additional neutral vector boson predicted by the 7-dimensional theory of gravielectroweak interactions. The scattering of a muon neutrino by a muon, in which the additional neutral current appears at both high and relatively low energies of the colliding particles, is examined as a special case.
Show AbstractCondensate state of charged vector bosons in an ultrastrong magnetic field
Condensate state of charged vector bosons in an ultrastrong magnetic field
A.V. Nikolaev, I.A. Obukhov, V.K. Perez-Fernandez, V.R. Khalilov
The nonlinear equations of motion of the Weinberg-Salam W-bosons in an ultrastrong magnetic field are investigated. The resulting topologically stable solutions can be interpreted as the condensate states of W-bosons in a magnetic field.

T.P. Amineva, I.P. Ivanenko, N.P. Il'ina, Т.V. Lazareva, B.L. Kanevskii, A.K. Managadze, E.A. Murzina, E.I. Pomelova, E.G. Popova, I.V. Rakobol'skaya, N.G. Rya'bova, L.G. Sveshnikova, O.P. Strogova, N.G. Zelevinskaya, V.M. Maksimenko, I.A. Mikhailova, L.P. Nikolaeva
The first results are reported on hadron intensity recorded at a depth of 81-110 cm of lead in an X-ray emulsion chamber. The intensity of the cascades within the chamber is calculated on the assumption that charmed particles are created with high probability in hadron interactions.

Compensation of the divergence of a light beam due to thermal defocusing in a stationary state
A.G. Glotov, D.P. Krindach, V.S. Sidorin
An experimental study is reported of the compensation of thermal refraction by positive lenses mounted at entry to the medium with thermal nonlinearity. The results are generalized to the case of semi-infinite media.
