Direct photoionization and the structure of the helium continuum

Annotation

The strong-coupling approximation for four open channels has been used to calculate the К electron scattering matrix for $Не^+$ and the direct photoionization cross section for helium in the region above threshold. The channel-coupling effects are discussed together with the influence of the He ground-state function on the direct photoionization cross section. The calculations are compared with experiment and with other calculations.
