A technique is developed for determining the vertical profile of the mean velocity of a stream in an upper millimetric layer. The results are cited of a synchronous measurement of the velocity and temperature in a laboratory stream. It is explained that the upper part of a cold film with a thickness of several tenths of millimeters is a laminar sublayer with a linear velocity and temperature profile. The thickness of the sublayer is reduced with a rise in the velocity of the stream, while the gradients of velocity and temperature are increased.
