Annotation

A nonlinear dispersion relation is acquired for Langmuir waves in a relativistic plasma, whose phase velocities are similar to the speed of light. It is shown that only waves with supersonic phase velocities will be modulationally unstable at $T_{e} \geq m_{e}c^{2}$.
