Based on the results of instrumental measurements and theoretical calculations carried out by a team of researchers at the Department of Atmosphere Physics, Physics Faculty, Moscow State University, new data on the heat and mass exchange between the ocean and the atmosphere in the zone of the El Nino phenomenon are obtained. Information obtained by meteorological satellites about tropical cyclones is collected. Analysis performed has shown that the number of tropical cyclones increases substantially in the years of marked El Nino activity.
