Metrological provision of infrasound level measurements

Metrological provision of infrasound level measurements

V.A. Gordienko, B.I. Goncharenko

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1998. 53. N 4. P. 84

It is demonstrated that the response of the vibratory systems of living organisms to acoustic effects depends not only on the sound pressure level (which is predominantly subject to sanitary regulations), but also on the vibration velocity of the particles moving under the sound pressure gradient and the amplitude of their displacement from the equilibrium position. The conclusion is therefore drawn that to correctly regulate sound levels in the low-frequency region, it is necessary to measure simultaneously the sound pressure and the vibration velocity of the particles of the medium.

The role of heavy metals in the formation of protein clusters in aqueous solutions

The role of heavy metals in the formation of protein clusters in aqueous solutions

G.P. Petrova, Yu.M. Petrusevich, A.N. Evseevicheva

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1998. 53. N 4. P. 91

The formation of macromolecular protein clusters in the presence of heavy metal ions was discovered using the Rayleigh scattering technique. The conditions attending the formation and destruction of such clusters are studied. It is demonstrated that the mass of the clusters is a maximum at the isoelectric point of the protein and increases with the increasing of ionic strength of the solution. The formation of protein clusters in the presence of toxic heavy metal ions in living cells is of substantial physiological and ecological importance. The molecular mechanism is discussed whereby such clusters are formed.

Об импульсном намагничивании монокристаллов бората железа

Об импульсном намагничивании монокристаллов бората железа

О.С. Колотов, А.П. Красножон, В.А. Погожев

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1998. N 3.

В.М. Силонов, И.А. Гляненко

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1998. N 3.

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1998. N 3.

A theoretical model of a vibrational Coulomb resonance excitation of diatomic molecules sliding at velocities of $10^5$-$10^7$ cm/s over crystal surfaces is suggested. The surface field is represented by the sum of periodic potentials with frequencies proportional to the initial molecule velocities. As an example, the probability of vibrational excitation of the CO and NO molecules is calculated at the level of first-order nonstationary perturbation theory.

Potentials of a dissipative waveguide and their application

Potentials of a dissipative waveguide and their application

P.A. Krutitskii

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1998. 53. N 3. P. 12

A singular solution to the two-dimensional dissipative Helmholtz equation in a strip under zero boundary conditions on the walls is considered. The solution, which is constructed by the reflection method, is represented as a series where one term is a fundamental solution to the Helmholtz equation on the plane and the other terms are smooth solutions to the Helmholtz equation in a strip. It is shown that the series formed by smooth solutions is an infinitely differentiable function. Based on the constructed singular solution, the potentials of the single and double layers and the angular potential in a strip are constructed. It is proved that the properties of the strip potentials are determined by the behavior of the well-studied potentials constructed based on the fundamental solution to the Helmholtz equation.

Finslerian approach to quantized field theory: positivity of scalar field energy and generalization of Pauli-Jordan functions

Finslerian approach to quantized field theory: positivity of scalar field energy and generalization of Pauli-Jordan functions

G.S. Asanov

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1998. 53. N 3. P. 17

On the basis of Finslerian Hamiltonian function, the real scalar field is considered. It is shown that the use of the special-relativistic Finslerian metric function leads to positivity of field energy. The Finslerian extension of the Pauli-J"ordan function is proposed to derive the required commutators and the relationship between the amplitudes $u^\pm(\textbf{k})$ and $u^\pm(k)$.

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1998. 53. N 3. P. 22

Effect of the SHF-field transversal inhomogeneity on the electron interaction with radiation in a maser with a plane slow-wave structure and a band-like beam in the case of anomalous Doppler effect has been studied. Amplification conditions as a function of a guiding magnetic field have been also studied.
