Integral equations of the first kind in problems of wave scattering in hollow wave guides

Integral equations of the first kind in problems of wave scattering in hollow wave guides

A.S. Il'inskii, V.V. Kravtsov, and A.G. Sveshnikov

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1968. 23. N 6. P. 9

The problem of wave scattering by foreign inclusions in hollow wave guides is reduced to an integral Fredholm equation of the first kind with a regular kernel over the surface of the inclusion, which is expressed in terms of the Green's function of the empty system. The uniqueness of the solution of this equation is proved. Various types of inclusions are considered: good conductors, dielectrics, and inhomogeneous objects.

Linear interpolation and prediction of a two-state Markov signal

Linear interpolation and prediction of a two-state Markov signal

L.I. Mirkin and R.L. Stratonovich

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1968. 23. N 6. P. 13

The optimal filtering system is synthesized, and the quality of interpolation and extrapolation estimated on the basis of a mean square criterion, for a two-state Markov signal. Solutions of the stationary and nonstationary problem are obtained.

Evaluation of the radiation power of a gas-type multiphoton frequency multiplier

Evaluation of the radiation power of a gas-type multiphoton frequency multiplier

F.V. Rossel's and T.A. Semenova

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1968. 23. N 6. P. 18

The radiation power of a multiphoton frequency multiplieris calculated. Account is taken of the actual gas absorption line width and of the spatial field distribution in the cavity. The results are in good agreement with familiar experimental data.

Investigation of some properties of pulse linear automatic control systems by the root locus method

Investigation of some properties of pulse linear automatic control systems by the root locus method

A.M. Grigor'ev and K.F. Teodorchik

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1968. 23. N 6. P. 21

A method for plotting the root loci of closed -loop pulse systems on the s-plane is outlined. The method reveals the mechanism whereby additional limit points occur in pulse systems, and enables us to show that, regardless of the order of the initial continuous system, the asymptotic order of a pulse system is not higher than the second.

Possible relativistic generalization of the Feynman approach to quantum mechanics

Possible relativistic generalization of the Feynman approach to quantum mechanics

V.N. Mansurov

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1968. 23. N 6. P. 24

A relativistic generalization of the Feynman approach to quantum mechanics is discussed. The discussion is carried out in terms of the evolution parameter τ, which does not enter the metric of the fivedimensional space Е_4,1. This scheme may find application at distances of the order of ~ 10^{- 11}cm or times of the order of 10^{-21}sec.

Theory of the surface layer

I.P. Bazarov and A.Ya. Terletskii

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1968. 23. N 6. P. 28

The structure of the transitional layer between liquid and vapor close to the critical point is determined by using the regularized self - consistent field equation.

A mass-spectroscopic investigation of thermal desorption products of Ti0_2

A mass-spectroscopic investigation of thermal desorption products of Ti0_2

A.V. Bondarenko

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1968. 23. N 6. P. 30

Mass analysis was used to investigate the composition and temperature dependence of the relative amounts of components of the gas released by titanium dioxide when it is heated in the range 100-1000° C. Besides Н_2О and certain contaminants, Н_2 is also released. The source of H2 may be Н_20 molecules, which are attached to the surface Ti atoms by donor-acceptor bonds. Prior heating of Ti0_2 in oxygen leads to the disappearance of Н_2 from the desorbed gas.

Association of rhodamine dye molecules in nonpolar solvents

L.V. Levshin, Yu.A. Mittsel, and N. Nizamov

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1968. 23. N 6. P. 34

The electronic absorption spectra of rhodamine dyes in nonpolar solvents were investigated. The pronounced differences in them are due to special structural features of these molecules. The absorption spectra of rhodamine solutions are compared with the absorption spectra of rhodamine films.

Weak signal quadrature phase quantizer

V.P. Komolov, V.Yu. Maslov, and I.T. Trofimenko

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1968. 23. N 6. P. 38

An experimental investigation of a parametric generator with phaseshift- keyed pumping, which produces binary phase quantization of the weak synchronous signal in two orthogonal channels, is described. It is shown that for signal/noise ratios very much less than unity the value of the ratio of the signals ∆1/∆2 in the first and second channels with the same sampling size is determined only by the phase of the quantized signal φ_c.

Theory of optical absorption by free charge carriers in semiconductors

Theory of optical absorption by free charge carriers in semiconductors

V.D. Karaivanov

Moscow University Physics Bulletin 1968. 23. N 6. P. 42

Equations are derived for the addition to the coefficient of optical absorption by free charge carriers in semiconductors when scattering on phonons takes place. This addition is due to interaction of phonons with point lattice defects of isotopic type. In §4 we calculate the occupation number function for phonons.
