Annotation
Compound torsion enables one to obtain spontaneous compaction in theor ies of Kaluza-Klein type in Minkowski space. The boson part of the superstring Lagrangian is derived from the scalar curvature in а multidimensional theory of Einstein-Cartan type with compound torsion.
