The limiting potential of schernes for nonperturbing quantum measure ments of the energy of а traveling electromagnetic wave based on energy accumulation in а high- Q resonator is explored. It is shown that the necessary condition for precise nonperturЫng measurement is inclusion of the resonator in the transmission line so that only the signal - mode field is incident there. Entry of the field of any no - load modes - even in the zero state - into the resonator is impermissible.
